EXCELLENT Based on 852 reviews mkclark73 May 2026Verified Best hotel on Isabela! We loved the three nights that we spent at Iguana Crossing! This is an absolute gem tucked at the end of a beautiful beach at the end of the main road in Puerto Villamil, and we really enjoyed watching the iguanas cross to and from the beach every morning and evening. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to room 8, a junior suite with a gorgeous ocean view, and found it to be spotless, comfortable, and everything that we could have hoped for. Yes, the situation with the pushbutton shower is different, but this is a tropical island that's isolated and has limited resources and it's a minor inconvenience. We had one dinner in the restaurant, and it was delicious, and breakfast was plentiful and fresh every day. We also had laundry done while we were there and it was more than reasonable at $25 for a large load of clothes. This is the nicest hotel on the island, and we would definitely stay here again! kxc22 April 2026Verified Such a charming hotel! Ceci is the best Really charming hotel on the island of Isabela, very friendly and helpful staff especially Ceci who made our stay very comfortable. Steps from the beach and indeed there are iguanas crossing every day Catherine C3 March 2026Verified Great location simple clean and friendly We stayed at Iguana Crossing on Isabela Island and were very happy with our choice. The location is wonderful — directly across a quiet sandy road from the beach with beautiful ocean views and marine iguanas often nesting right out front. We booked two adjoining ocean-view rooms with large balconies, and while the rooms are simple and not ultra-luxury, they were clean, comfortable, and modern. The island itself is peaceful and the hotel is just a short 4-minute walk along the beach or road into town where there are great casual restaurants, coffee shops, and tour operators. The staff feel like a close-knit family — warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful, though not overly formal. They assisted us with laundry (quick turnaround and reasonably priced) and helped where they could when my son wasn’t feeling well during our stay. The hotel restaurant was convenient but not our favorite, and service could be slow, so we preferred eating in town. Overall, Iguana Crossing is a lovely boutique option on a very remote island — ideal for travelers who value location, authenticity, and a relaxed atmosphere over five-star polish. philip20104 January 2026Verified Beautiful ocean view hotel Stayed at this hotel with a tour that we were on. The hotel is newer, clean and modern and situated almost on the beach. It has a beautiful view of the ocean and has a lovely pool out in front and a roof top hottub. The staff are helpful and friendly. You just walk across the road to the beach and you will see dozens of Iguanas! The breakfast was included and we enjoyed the options of eggs cooked to order and fresh fruit and meats and toasts etc from the buffet. We enjoyed the clean and large ocean view room with a balcony overlooking the pool. There are many restaurants down the street and nice ocean front bars as well. The area is very pleasant and of course Isabela Island is remote so it is wonderful to stay at such a nice hotel in this location. JoG19 December 2025Verified Fabulous location, modern and very clean Truly the best location, and hotel with amenities, on this stretch of remote island beach! We found peace, tranquility, exceptional views, spotlessly clean, well maintained rooms and common areas. The very large pool and roof top jacuzzi were big plus, we used both many times. Maintenance was regularly taking care of everything (special thank you for every attention to our jacuzzi time!). Very, very good food & drinks, with personal and friendly service. Isabella gave us thoughtful service and excellent recommendations. Sophie prepared the best caipirinha - she attributed it to the endemic lemons of Isabella. This modern, clean, family owned property has attention to comfort and curated decor. We experienced very minor transfer of sound in our room from hallway conversations, and from chairs moved back and forth in adjoining rooms, but other guests settled in fairly early and we easily drifted off to sleep each night to the sound of the ocean, on crisp linens, comfortable pillows and mattresses (helps to be specific on bedding when making reservations, our room was not a king and did not have the option to push 2 beds together). Our ocean front balcony was enjoyable for watching sunrise, sunsets, and a relaxing coffee or beverage during the day. We would have liked a lounger on our balcony, the hotel was kind to provide a cushioned bench to relax upon. Admittedly, we stayed at a quiet week for tourists, we were the only few who were there not going on tours each day, we enjoyed the hotel almost to ourselves; our experience may differ from high-season travelers. To note, we were on island specifically to relax, enjoy the unique long strand of white powdery beach of Isabella, immerse into Puerto Villamil’s friendly, welcoming culture after a long trip of constant moving, daily excursions & exploration of the amazing Galapagos by small yacht. Consider that for some there are drawbacks in staying on a remote island. It may not be for everyone, and certainly this pair of travelers who have become accustomed to pampered travel had to make minor adjustments (think ‘upscale safari’ bathroom, and weigh in how fabulous is this ecology and privilege to be here). Be aware that water is a major conservation. To the credit of this hotel, they installed ecological water distribution. The downside for us was the constant ‘push-button’ for showering and sink water, and, very slow access to hot water - we felt we were wasting water by needing to pump out cold water until it warmed up, and one hand was constantly on the pump for showers. Again, trade off of staying in a remote paradise. We did poke into several other hotels along the beach front for comparison. We chose wisely, and we thank the owners and staff for everything. marinabif10 November 2025Verified Vista impagabile, la spiaggia straordinaria Posizione straordinaria, albergo a gestione familiare con un’attenzione al cliente unica. Possibilità di noleggio biciclette e buon ristorante Camere con aria condizionata, consiglio vivamente quelle sul mare. Earl S23 October 2025Verified Great Place to stay on Isabela Island We spent an enjoyable 4 days here and the experience was very very good. The hotel location is toward the end of town so it’s quiet but still accessible. The hotel has a fleet of bikes which are great for getting around if you don’t want to walk. The beach is right in front of the hotel and just steps away. The hotel and rooms are comfortable and well appointed. They have AC however we didn’t need it because the ocean breeze was always there. Recommend a room with ocean view as the best choice. The staff and service was exceptional. The food at the hotel was as good as any restaurant in town. Would recommend allowing the hotel to help plan any tours or excursions as they know Isabela Island very well and can hook you up easily. We chose to fly to Isabela vs taking a ferry from Santa Cruz. The hotel pickup and drop off service worked well - no waiting around, Overall an enjoyable visit.
